THE ART OF SAW FILING, SCIENTIFICALLY TREATED AND EXPLAINED ON PHILOSOPHICAL PRINCIPLES...H. W. Holly, 1864/1882. Before there was Hodgson, before there was Grimshaw, there was H. W. Holly. Originally published in 1864 and re-issued for more than 25 years, this is one of the earlier treatises on saw care and saw sharpening. This edition is from 1882. Other than a different cover and some minor pagination changes, it is the same as the 1864 edition. Unfortunately, my 1864 edition is missing two pages.

Mr. Hodgson's typically idiosyncratic style of writing, combined with his particular brand of Opinions, makes for a read both informative and amusing.
