3 EUROPEAN (?) CARPENTERS CDV. Most likely a copy of an original image. Three carpenters posed for a CDV holding a jack plane, a square and a european style frame saw.
3 MEN HOLDING SOME KIND OF TOOL. CDV . Hand tinted CDV of three men holding some kind of tool? Sporting device? An early shuffleboard stick? The look of these tools reminds me of something, but I just can't figure out what that something is. If you know, please take pity on me and drop me a line.
*3 FOUNDRY WORKERS HOLDING FLOOR RAMMERS, tools for setting up green sand. ID courtesy Mike Rock.
THE JUGGLING CARPENTER. CDV (Duplicate). Yet another obviously plagiarized CDV, most likely from a Tintype of indeterminate date and origin. Look closely at the tools surrounding this kneeling carpenter. He has a novel way of carrying his tools.
CARPENTER HOLDING A PLANE, SAW AND SQUARE. CDV taken by W. E. George of Monette, Missouri. Not a duplicate at all, this is the type of CDV produced by a local photographer for a proud, local carpenter.
AT THE HEIGHTS OF FASHION... CDV by Schofield Bros., Wakefield, R. I. I think this one may become the image on my business card. Just don't have a full mouth of food when you look closely at this CDV. I wonder if I can buy a pair of those overalls somewhere in Rhode Island?
3 TIMBER FRAME HOUSE CARPENTERS. CDV. Three house carpenters with the tools of their choice: Timber frame drill, jack plane, square, hatchet and handsaw.. Look closely at the nuts on the handsaw and see if you can guess the manufacturer.
MAN HOLDING LUMBER RULE. CDV. What the well dressed lumber yard employee wears to work. From the photography shop of Napoleon Sarony, 680 Broadway, N. Y.
YOUNG BRITISH WOODWORKER WITH PLANE. CDV. In the interest of cross-Atlantic goodwill, here is a nice CDV of a young woodworker posing in his finery whilst holding a jack plane.
WOODTURNER AT HIS LATHE. c1870. A little large for a CDV, but still a small albumen print on a CDV style mount. Unusual image of a wood turner at his lathe. In the background you can make out a post mounted drill press. Both the lathe and the drill press are flat belt driven.
WOODTURNER AND A MOST PECULIAR LATHE. C1860,Another small albumen print, a little large for a CDV but none-the-less of the same category. At first I thought that this image included a small dog or cat sitting on the lathe. Close inspection revealed what may be the most imaginative piece of machinery design in history. Note the Head Stock and the Tail Stock.
